Many people have asked me over the years, ‘what does J and H stand for’ so I thought it best to
explain where it all began.
Prior to starting up my own business back in 2015, I used to work at a local college. I had many roles
in my time there, from offering admin support to different clusters at an operational level to working
apart of the directorate support for the Principal of the college. This enabled me to gather lots of
experience working along side a variety of people and teams and made me realise that I like to help
out where ever I could.
Whilst at the college I worked alongside a lady called Jessica and little did I know it we would have
the brain wave of starting up our own cleaning business together. The college was going through a
transition, it had to make some cut backs and unfortunately, I was at risk of redundancy. Jessica had
reached a decision that she could no longer carry out the role she was doing and thus us having a
brain wave.
In July 2015 when we both had finished at the college, we launched J and H Cleaning services, J is for
Jessica and H for Helen, simple really. However, the story doesn’t end there.
For the first couple of months everything was going well, we were generating new leads and
establishing ourselves as a new cleaning business in Nottingham. Then after 6 months unfortunately
Jessica became poorly, and had to take a step back away from the business to concentrate on
getting herself better. She handed everything over to me, and I had to make a decision as to fight
and keep going or give up and find a job. I chose to carry on as this was something that I loved. I
enjoyed being able to bring joy into peoples lives by cleaning their homes. It wasn’t an easy decision
to make however I knew it was the right one for me.
The company began to grow even more and then this is when I needed to reach out and start
looking for additional help to meet the demand. I employed a couple of girls to expanded the team
and it grew slowly into the team it is today.
We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, and the willingness to go the extra mile for our clients.
Our team is like a family and our clients have mentioned that they feel apart of the family when we
are there cleaning for them.
People have asked why I haven’t changed the name of the company, and simply I like to remember
where it all started and to keep that drive and determinate to keep moving forward.
